I am a Deaf woman, who grew up almost exclusively in an hearing french environnement (social, academic career, internships and employment) with different types of accommodations. Growing up in this environment has allowed me to develop valuable transferable skills, specifically my ability to not only to adapt according to the resources and accommodation measures available to me, but also being flexible with a sense of organization and stress management. It has taught me perseverance, which served me well as I was able to pursue my academic career all the way to a postgraduate degree (DÉSP) with Université de Hearst. It is my greatest achievement.Moreover, I am trilingual: while my main language is the LSQ (Québec Sign Language), I read and write French and English fluidly. The written communication habits that I have developed during my life to communicate with hearing people in different capacities also allow me to communicate with not only a typical clientele, but also clients who are mute or have speech difficulties.
