It's nice to e-meet you! I'm Catherine, and I love animation so much that I am practicing many different things every week: TV writing, voice acting, and illustration. WRITING | I pitched my first animated show to Frederator Studios in 2012 when I was in highschool, and quickly I learned to improve my writing and storytelling skills to create a moving story. Since then, I've pitched some more and have been offered options. I became an assistant on TIGER'S APPRENTICE on Paramount+, and the showrunner's assistant on Nickelodeon's UNANNOUNCED SHOW, where I wrote and sold a premise. In 2024, I became a Nick Writing Program Finalist and Participant, and a writer for UCB Sketch Cram.VOICE ACTING | My voice is warm, kind, young, and quirky. I've done some voices for kids and animals in TV shows. My clients include: Creativity Inc, and Nickelodeon, and I am currently represented by Stars Agency: https://www.starsvoiceover.com/voice-actor/catherine-chen/19377DIRECTING & PRODUCING | In 2019 - 2020, I wrote, directed, and produced a deeply personal animated short film that was nominated for a Student Academy Award and spotlighted in the NY Times. It won Best Animation for Kids when competing with studio pilots from around the world.In 2017-2019, I directed and produced an unreleased location-based mobile game called Domain at USC Games, with mentors from Riot Games and Zynga. This project was showcased to the CEO and Head of Studios at Niantic, and Head of Interactive at CAA. ARTWORK | I've been working as a professional children's book illustrator since 2016. I get commissioned to draw a children's book once every 2 years, and have completed 4 books sold to educators around the nation about climate and other humane issues. With grants from Palm Beach Community College, PNC Bank, and Community Greening. My art has been showcased in the US Department of Education (2015), and Nickelodeon's AAPI Showcase (2023).
