I initially started working at Debenhams as part of the travel money department. I had various duties such as, counting stock, working out conversions, giving the correct currency to customers and cashing up. I also had the opportunity to run and manage the department on a regular basis. This carried extra responsibility, such as training staff, marketing and ordering currency. I learnt how to use new operating systems, such as Ultrapos, which I managed to pick up very quickly. I then started working for the Home department, which involved new skills, including selling and opening credit cards, working on the till, replenishing stock etc. I am proud of the work I completed here and I actually left Debenhams ranking 24th across the whole company for opening credit cards.

My duties included, entering orders onto an online system, scanning packs, uploading scans and preparing paperwork for batching. I also had to do some work involving spreadsheets. Ringing clients was another task I was required to do along with other customer related duties. This experience further expanded my computer skills.

I worked as a volunteer at Bradford Youth Service for the Befriending scheme. I was responsible for the care of young disabled people. I, along with a team, took these young people out on visits, for example, skiing, go karting etc. These activities help the children develop lasting friendships with their peers. The primary aim of the project is to give disabled people equal opportunities to participate in fun activities like everyone else. I have learnt to build bonds with a variety of different people in a short space of time.
