Working as a QA Engineer specializing in First Article provided me with both knowledge of Quality Assurance and also First Article Inspection (FAI). Handling FAI equipped me with broad knowledge of inspection methods of In-process and Outgoing QC. I am able to setup CMM programming and develop inspection methods for both In-process and Outgoing QC. I also joined the discussion on Design for Manufacturability which is crucial to determine the process capabilities for the product after pass to mass production. Also, reviewing and updating all quality system procedures and work instructions related to FAI section is crucial in ensuring its accuracy and validity including SOP, Work Instructions and forms and tables. When there are process changes or new product introduction, I will interface with Engineering, Operations and Production for new product implementation. With this, I am able to set process parameter for new product and document it in Process Management Plan and Quality Control Sheet. In addition, I will liaise with Material and NPI team on individual FA submission requirements and follow-up on FA progress status with necessary documentation for trace-ability and compliance on submission due date. I need to ensure product conformance to quality standards are meeting customer's specification and requirements. Aside, Continuous Improvements in quality standards and procedures are done to support production on quality issues. In addition to the above, I need to ensure the environmental criteria such as RoHS, organo-silicone and others are meeting the accepted specifications. Other than FAI, I also in-charged of making sure all measuring equipment are calibrated, maintained and traceable to International Standards and ensuring sufficient equipment and facilities are provided to carry out daily product inspection; either conducted internally or by third party calibration laboratories.
