About Faraj Saffouri, Msc, Cem®

I am a certified energy manager, energy engineer and I have Master's degree in Sustainable Energy. I have been in the Energy Engineering field for more than 6 professional experience years and 6 educational years. I am passionate about what I do. Energy Professional with a focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency and demand side management and how would a well-designed program achieve energy independence.Starting 2024, I was moved to the DTE Retro-commissioning program. Looking forward for new challenges and learning opportunity in this new position. For the last 3 years, I have been providing engineering technical support to several utility energy efficiency programs: 1- Custom Energy Efficiency Calculations and Economic Analysis for Commercial and Industrial customers with Indiana Michigan Power Company (INMIPC). 2- Technical Reviewer for midstream energy efficiency applications and new measures developer with Ameren Illinois.3- Energy Engineer with DTE Tailored Lighting Assessment Pilot Program.4- Researcher in Pilot Program with ComEd. Between 2018 and 2021, I held three different positions within Walker Miller Energy Services:As an Energy Specialist 1 (ES1), I performed walk through energy audits for DTE for residential customers. In 8 months I was promoted to ES2, where I continued to do ES1 duties plus support and train new ESs, lead a group of 4 ESs and joined customer complaint resolution team. In 3 months, I completed BPI certification and was promoted to Energy Advisor in the Ameren Illinois Home Energy Income Qualified Program HEIQ. I performed more detailed energy audits, resolved customer's complaints, helped in pilot smart energy program, and many other roles as needed.Back to School:I was granted 2 excellence full scholarships and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Energy Systems Engineering from Cyprus International University in Cyprus (Ranked first in the faculty of Engineering) and Masters degree in Sustainable Energy from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar.I was born and raised as a refugee and made my way through all the obstacles to be what I am today with an unstoppable desire for learning and improvement.
