Responsibilities on the trip included organizing the group and keeping everyone aware of the tight schedule that we had to follow. The trip took place from September 22-26 and involved 65 students. Companies visited included Shell, Zellstoff Castlegar, Agrium Carseland and the bonnybrooke waste water treatment plant.

The Youth Venture UBC team strives to change how education is presented within BC by presenting primary and secondary school workshops, conferences, and projects surrounding local and global sustainability. We try to bring alternative perspectives to students when it comes to poverty and international development in countries like Ghana and Zambia. Undergraduate Research Assistant At Ubc Advanced Oxidation Research Laboratory
I had the opportunity to work on two different projects during my time at the Advanced Oxidation Research Laboratory. One looked at the the fundamental impact of Natural Organic Matter on an Ion Exchange Process while the other studied the impact Natural Organic Matter and pH on the photocatalytic deactivation of photocatalytic spheres. Both projects were a great opportunity for me to work on my in-lab research skills as well as gain a better background on the terminology and processes involved in drinking water treatment.

Our focus in the year 2013-2014 was on organizing our fist Youth Leadership Symposium along with a partnership with Elsie Roy Elementary in Vancouver that involved weekly presentations to children in grades 1-6.
