• Preliminary design of an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor for the industrial wastewater of a glucose production plant. Purpose of the project is to decrease the influent COD of the plant from 40,000 mg/L and to save on operating costs (particularly energy and maintenance costs)• Provided process description, design memorandum, design calculations and equipment specification for the UASB, settling tank and heat exchanger • Participated in business development activities and the company website design/updates

Designing and presenting STEM-based activities to elementary school students. Mentoring high school volunteer. Following safety and risk management policies in order to ensure that each student is safe.

Responsibilities included1). Identifying and developing solutions to departmental curriculum issues2). Organizing and co-chairing academic feedback session twice per term for undergraduate students 3). Acting as a liaison between the undergraduate students and faculty in dealing with curriculum issues 4). Attending student advisory council and general council meetings with the department and the Engineering Undergraduate Society curriculum

Acting as a liaison between students and faculty regarding any concerns with the work load, scheduling and mark distribution within the 3rd year curriculum.

The third year representative is responsible for organizing the third year UBC Chemical and Biological Engineering Field Trip. The tasks for the trip involved booking companies, hotels and buses for the trip with a set budget while also ensuring the logistics are feasible. Responsibilities on the trip included organizing the group and keeping everyone aware of the tight schedule that we had to follow. The trip took place from September 22-26 and involved 65 students. Companies visited included Shell, Zellstoff Castlegar, Agrium Carseland and the bonnybrooke waste water treatment plant.

The Youth Venture UBC team strives to change how education is presented within BC by presenting primary and secondary school workshops, conferences, and projects surrounding local and global sustainability. We try to bring alternative perspectives to students when it comes to poverty and international development in countries like Ghana and Zambia. In the year 2014-2015 I am once again the Co-leader of the Youth Venture team in Engineers Without Borders, this year our goal is to revamp our presentations while also organizing our second Youth Leadership Symposium

I had the opportunity to work on two different projects during my time at the Advanced Oxidation Research Laboratory. One looked at the the fundamental impact of Natural Organic Matter on an Ion Exchange Process while the other studied the impact Natural Organic Matter and pH on the photocatalytic deactivation of photocatalytic spheres. Both projects were a great opportunity for me to work on my in-lab research skills as well as gain a better background on the terminology and processes involved in drinking water treatment.

Our focus in the year 2013-2014 was on organizing our fist Youth Leadership Symposium along with a partnership with Elsie Roy Elementary in Vancouver that involved weekly presentations to children in grades 1-6.
