Target opened its first Canadian stores in March 2013; by January 2015, it had 133 locations across the country. Target Canada Co. was a Canadian subsidiary of United States-based department store chain Target Corporation, formed in 2011 to oversee the company's Canadian operations. WSP was awarded the design of the renovation and extension of 52 of these 125 Canadian stores. As the Project Manager for this Program, Faria was responsible for managing the timely delivery of 52 stores for the iconic Target Brand located across Canada. The program was extremely aggressive in terms of schedule and the very particular requirements of Target. Under the WSP banner we provided Architectural Services as well as Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil, Environmental and other engineering disciplines in cooperation with US counterpart consultants providing Target Brand experience to the team. This two year multi-discipline project involved coordinating efforts of several of the WSP offices located all across the country to work as one team. This demanded a great deal of commitment, organizational capability and intra-personal skills on the part of the Faria as the Project Manager. Compound this with the reality that this program, involving 13 WSP offices across the huge geography of Canada, was unique to WSP’s experience. The program of these 52 plus stores was successfully completed end of 2013. This LEED® Certified program was entirely carried out in Revit platform using the BIM Protocol that was developed by WSP I PB and incorporated by the client as well. Client: TARGET, USA.
