I love to understand people’s needs and problems and offer meaningful data-driven solutions through innovative, applied research. As a child, I would often find myself keenly observing and intuitively empathizing with other people. Being able to discern what others missed felt like a superpower that allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of other peoples’ unique perspectives. As an adult, I’ve managed to hone in on this skill in my career and turn it into one of my biggest strengths as a researcher. Today, I combine my childhood superpower with scientific methods to understand how groups of humans think and behave, what motivates us, and how we engage in and experience the world around us. I am a trained cultural anthropologist with a penchant for identifying human needs and limitations and finding informed, research-based solutions. This is precisely why the growing field of UX research fits perfectly in line with my experience and expertise. As a social scientist, I have over 20 years of professional experience conducting both large and small scale mixed methods research projects. I have designed and implemented both generative and evaluative research studies to understand the needs, problems, and motivations of research participants and end-users. As a project leader, I have managed teams of researchers to meet parallel research goals while collaborating and communicating effectively with stakeholders comprising of clients, project partners and target populations from diverse backgrounds. In addition, I'm an educator and writer with years of experience teaching, training, publishing and disseminating research findings in a range of settings and formats, including class rooms, public presentations at conferences, reports, peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, digital shorts and podcasts.
