My love of stories has taken me from the farm where I was raised, through a Philosophy degree and into the world of animation. Philosophy fuelled my passion for storytelling and equipped me with the skills to communicate complex visual ideas, simply and clearly.My career began in the print industry, on Scotland's first digital picture desk, retouching photos and creating illustrations. Having always loved animation I could not resist the urge to bring my work to life. Attracted by the creative freedom of club visuals and live performance, over the next 10 years I toured arts festivals across Europe as a founding member of Pointless Creations. During this time I also co-founded Once Were Farmers animation studio. The studio was built from scratch with the intention of using commercial work to fund the development of our own projects and skills. Maintaining this vision has been a great challenge which has borne fruit in the shape of numerous awards and far-reaching recognition. In recent years, a combined love of technology and education, and a desire to explore new narratives, has taken the form of Me and the Giants; a games studio specialising in 'digital toys' for young children. I love problem solving. Finding and fixing holes in plot lines; finding the simplest shots to express an idea; finding the best way to get a team to work together. I pride myself on giving my staff a great working environment, delivering on budget and exceeding expectations.Specialties: Designing, Producing and Directing Innovative Animation.
