It supports a wide range of medical centers covering all general and subspecialties. In addition to its extensive clinical services, the department also functions as a medical research center, providing education and training for both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Medicine.

As an anesthesia lecturer at Ain Shams University, my role encompassed both education and extensive clinical practice across various surgical specialties. I spent the majority of my time at the Cardiothoracic Academy, where I administered anesthesia for a range of procedures, including elective and emergency cardiac surgeries, adult and pediatric cases, and thoracic surgeries. My work also involved providing anesthesia in the cath lab suite for procedures related to structural heart disease and electrophysiology. In addition to delivering high-quality anesthetic care, I was actively involved in teaching medical students and residents, helping them develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in anesthesiology. Through lectures, hands-on training, and supervision, I aimed to prepare them for the complexities of anesthesia management in diverse and challenging clinical settings.

Established in 1998, the center focuses on caring for children's hearts and performing surgical corrections for congenital defects.Since its inception, the center has conducted approximately 15,000 pediatric open-heart surgeries. In recent years, it has performed about 1,400 surgeries annually. The center features a team of eminent cardiac surgery professors and consultants from various Egyptian universities. It provides all services free of charge for children from birth up to the end of their school years. The facility has a total capacity of 70 beds, including 22 beds equipped for intensive care.

During my locum visit as a cardiac anesthesia specialist at Heart Hospital-HMC, I experienced a diverse and enriching journey across various critical care settings. In the operating suite, I was responsible for providing anesthesia for complex cardiac surgeries, ensuring patient stability and safety during procedures. My role in the cath lab involved administering anesthesia for interventional cardiology procedures, focusing on patient comfort and rapid recovery. Working in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU), I managed postoperative care for patients with intricate cardiac conditions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes and support recovery. Additionally, I had the opportunity to extend my expertise to remote areas, addressing the unique challenges of providing specialized cardiac care in less resource-intensive environments.
