Welcome to my profile! I'm an educator with a background in journalism, freelance writing, and editing. I'm currently pursuing my goal of becoming a languages teacher (specializing in French, Spanish, and English) at the secondary level.I have a passion for helping others, and especially youth, to achieve their potential. Nothing inspires me more than those breakthrough moments when a student of mine goes from mystification to understanding.I hold a Master of Journalism degree from UBC, and a Bachelor of Arts in the Humanities from the University of Victoria. My formal education has exposed me to a wide range of disciplines, including sciences (climatology, biology, ecology, psychology), languages (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese), literature, and the arts. But I am also a voracious reader and auto-didact—I strive to learn knew things about myself and the world around me every day. The foci of my ongoing research include international terrorism and its driving factors, economics, politics, and climate change. I am currently teaching myself Japanese in my spare time.Finally, I have both advanced training and professional experience as a photographer, including in news and sports situations. However, I take the most pleasure in landscape and urban photography.I look forward to hearing from you.
