I was proud to serve for twenty years as a commissioned officer in the USCG- first on active duty for about 9 years and the remainder in the USCG Reserves. While on active duty I served on a cutter operating out of FL and the Caribbean on law enforcement patrols. Next I was privileged to serve as the Commanding Officer of two coastal patrol boats out of CA...the Point Evans and Point Hobart. After graduate school I ran the CG's finances, purchasing, and accounting for the 11th district (CA,AZ,NV). (The patrol boat was way more fun). Importantly my time in the service laid the groundwork for leadership, integrity, and hard work that would serve me well in my second career in personal finance.

For almost a decade I worked at Merrill Lynch as a private client advisor where I learned the importance of putting clients first, helping clients craft a financial plan and continuing to learn. For the last couple of years I was also entrusted leading 30 other financial advisors in my office. This was a great opportunity to help them work with hundreds of clients solving a myriad of challenges.
