Stories are what make us human. All our forefathers, whatever our ethnicities, would sit around a fire to keep warm and tell stories under a star-showered sky. Today, while the fire may be gone, that desire to move stories to one another is certainly still part of our nature, almost primal you could say.And that is what I hope to bring out from my life, and onto anything I may pursue today, tomorrow and in the future: a way to tell stories about anything. Our life, and our work, is all about communicating a story of something to someone else in order to achieve something (if you think about it really). But perhaps one story I hate to tell, is that of myself. And for that, I thank the brilliant minds of the early scribers to have come up with the genius formatting feature of “bullet points” to help me quickly share with you some of my career highlights.1. I’ve created scripts, projects and videos for companies to help them tell stories, primarily to help some of Singapore’s most prominent brands celebrate our Golden Jubilee in 2015. One such collection was called KopiTimes, where we searched around the country for feats of the Merdeka Generation and be their voices to capture the many sacrifices they made in helping the build the prosperous nation we live in today. The highlight for me was being given the chance to interview my hero: my father.2. I was, and am still, part of a rigorous Curriculum Team in a company that has expanded from a 3-branch neighbourhood enrichment centre to an 8-and-counting English and Writing specialist that makes the mastery of English possible for all students. 3. I edited a highly experimental video produced by Changi Airport to showcase their Aviation Hub. Done over a course of two weeks and with three intensive days of shooting, I played a huge part in stitching up a dynamic and trendy video that has gone on to garner over 100,000 views on Changi Airport’s page.4. And finally, my biggest achievement has been tutoring and enriching the lives of many Singaporean students through the power of the written word. I have laid foundations to a successful Primary 1-Primary 2 Curriculum Rebranding, set up a strong Teaching culture as a Senior Teacher and lead a team of writers as a Curriculum Lead.
