Dr. Farshid Safi is a K-12 mathematics education professor and Associate Director for Teaching and Service in the School of Teacher Education at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. His professional experiences include serving as a former high school teacher and university teacher educator working with teachers & school districts throughout the U.S and Canada for the last 25+ years. His research focuses on supporting teachers’ conceptual understanding of elementary and secondary mathematics, as well as linking equitable teaching practices and the intentional integration of technology. Farshid frequently engages in professional learning efforts nationally and collaborates on books, book chapters and journal articles focused on mathematical modeling and mathematical literacy through a multi-disciplinary approach. He has made presentations for teachers and educators more than 175 times at the state, national, and international conferences. He is a longstanding member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and is an active contributor to policy efforts related to equitable teaching practices and intentional technology use in engaging students in the teaching and learning of mathematics. Dr. Safi currently serves as the President-Elect for the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) and is excited about serving and engaging with colleagues as AMTE president from 2025-2027.
