Editing stories submitted by the reporters making sure it is newspaper worthy, and designing pages for final printing. Aside from daily tasks which involve editing and designing pages for local and international stories, I have to jungle daily assignments with advances pages which are usually Feature-related stories either submitted by reporters or obtained from newswire to be completed before the deadline.

The first person to come in for duty and the last to leave to assist Duty Editor in performing daily tasks as well as leading a team by delegating tasks and assigning pages for them to complete. Acts as the point man for reporters, sub editors, copy writers, Media Permata (Malay newspaper), Advertising Department, Graphics Department as well as other agencies to ensure the tasks runs smoothly and deadlines are met. Also handles the newspaper's social media.

Given the chance to move up the ladder from part-time to full-time employment, I took the opportunity of handling a much bigger responsibility in the company. I was tasked to ensure the checking of pages on a deeper level focussing on protocols, names and designations relating to the members of the royal family, Cabinet Ministers and other important prominent figures on the newspaper.

Started off as a temporary job, I spent my time as a proofreader meticulously checking the spelling, names as well as the house-style format used in the paper to ensure that no mistakes are made during the initial stage of the paper print out before the final mass printing.
