In the development side, I managed finalizing what software stack to use mainly and concluded high level development conventions. Beside that, I also was involved in main components data design and how different services would do the communication among themselves. On the infrastructure side, we designed everything from ground up. We partitioned our resources, decided on the filesystem, logging mechanism, developed a fully automated database backup and restore procedure (supporting MongoDB, MySQL and Redis), managed IP addresses allocation etc. One of the most challenging parts was building teams; from setting contents of interviews to onboarding processes, creating a common helping culture, sharing an inspiring vision etc. In our department we soon grew into 5 different teams: generally these were two development teams, one product team, one UI/UX, and infrastructure team. But aside from tech, I am responsible for bridging the gap between business departments and IT departments.
