During that specific phase of the project, I studied into the domain of Automatic Music Transcription (AMT). I employed signal processing techniques within a computer environment to transform music audio into a musical notation. The algorithm was developed in the MATLAB environment.Throughout my involvement in Automatic Music Transcription (AMT), my primary focus was on crafting algorithms capable of converting music audio recordings into symbolic representations, such as musical scores or MIDI files. Musical notes, characterized for their distinctive tones, originate from a blend of harmonically related sinusoids and potential overtones. I effectively translated audio recordings of musical performances into symbolic forms, specifically encoding them as MIDI numbers.Given an audio recording of music, my solution approach is given below:• Read the music file in .wav format.• Showcase the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) along with the audio's representation in the time domain.• Employ a threshold to determine each note within the sound file.• Discern and filter sinusoidals corresponding to harmonic frequencies at various time instances from the spectrogram.• Detect and clearly present the onset and conclusion of each individual musical note within the recording.• Map the remaining sinusoidals and convert the music into symbolic formats, specifically to their corresponding MIDI numbers.• Quantitatively compare the results with the actual MIDI numbers in “precision” and “recall” like terms.
