Fátima Dargam holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences / Artificial Intelligence from the Department of Computing at Imperial College, London (1996); a Master degree in Artificial Intelligence from Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME), Rio de Janeiro (1989); an Engineering degree in Electronics from Universidade Santa Ursula (USU), Rio de Janeiro (1983), as well as a Bachelors degree (B.A.) in English (Teaching Didactics & Literature) from USU, Rio de Janeiro (1983). Fátima Dargam integrated the Coordination Board of the EURO Working Group on Decision Support Systems (EWG-DSS) from 2007 to 2020, where she is a founding member since 1989. She is currently member of the EWG-DSS Advisory Board.Since 1988, she cooperates in research with the Institute of Logic, Philosophy and Theory of Science – ILTC http://www.iltc.br in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 1995 she has joined the company SimTech Simulations Technology in Graz, Austria, where she works on research, development and innovation projects, dealing with the application of software modules supporting computer-based simulations. In 2016, she co-founded the company REACH Innovation as Technical Managing Director, providing support for research, development and innovation projects. In 2022, REACH changed its legal form to a company with limited liability, renamed as RI REACH Innovation GmbH, based in Graz, Austria.Her past career includes the position of head of the Computer Graphics Division of the Informatics Group, in the Brazilian Naval Research Institute IPqM, in Rio de Janeiro (from 1983 to 1990). Fátima Dargam’s research interests include: knowledge management; theory and applications of inconsistent knowledge; representation of actions and plans in dynamic domains; non-monotonic reasoning, belief revision and updates, multi-agent systems, expert systems and intelligent decision support systems. For the last years, she has concentrated her research work in the areas of Decision Making, Big Data Analytics, AI and Process Simulation.Fátima Dargam is currently member of the International Advisory Board of the IJDSST International Journal of Decision Support Systems Technology for which she served since 2012 as Associate Editor; and belongs to the Editorial Board of Journals in the area of Decision Support Systems. She acts as referee for several IT, OR and DSS Conferences and Journals. As expert in the area of ICT, AI and Decision Support Systems, Fátima Dargam also acts as evaluator and reviewer for the European Commission.
