I make decisions on applications for exemption from experiential training, work on accrediting and auditing college paralegal programs and lead on-site audit visits, handle paralegal education questions, and provide professional credentialing with my team. I also oversee the tutoring program and handle escalated issues from the tutoring coordinator.

I managed a large caseload of Accident Benefits files, ensuring that files are on the right track. My focus was on maintaining and developing my firm's relationships with clients and key account service providers.In my daily duties, I was entrusted to proceed independently in my work. Predominantly, I handled the Accident Benefits side of personal injury claims and was heavily involved on the tort side of the personal injury litigation process. Some of my duties included drafting motions, addressing undertakings, obtaining productions, compiling affidavit of documents, drafting letters and settlement proposals along with various other documents important to the personal injury claim process. I correspond heavily with insurance adjusters, defence counsel and other third parties to facilitate settlement discussions.I managed the daily operations of the Personal Injury department and fulfilled a supervisory role for the legal administration students, interns, student-at-laws and paralegal students completing their work placement at our firm.

I was hired on from my placement at this personal injury law firm and provided assistance to the lawyers while working on my own files. I handled the company's Accident Benefit claims from start to finish, communicating with insurance adjusters and engaging in mediations with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO). In addition, I also worked on tort file cases. Some of my duties included preparing for trial, conducting legal research, requesting productions, drafting and preparing motions/affidavits and letters, Statement of Claims, Statement of Issues, Pre-trial memos, and other documents important in the process of personal injury claims.I also attended Criminal Court on matters involving disclosure and scheduling. I completed my placement at a personal injury law firm, learning the timeline of a personal injury claim and what to do each step of the way, including but not limited to:Proceeding with AB claims and Tort claims, interpreting medical records & notes, Motor Vehicle Accident reports and Police records & notes, drafting Statement of Claims and Statement of Issues, preparing document/medical briefs and files for trial, drafting motions and affidavits, communicating with clients and various adjusters, drafting letters to request productions and various ad hoc work that is integral to the personal injury claim process.I was hired on as an employee of the firm after my placement and worked as a legal assistant until I was licensed as a Paralegal.

Established my own private tutoring business in which I customized my teaching style and lessons to each individual student. I proactively looked for students and also gained students from word-of-mouth referrals. I provided remedial English instructions to working professionals; I proofread and assisted the students in creating presentations, business proposals and the preparation of various sensitive documents. I travelled between offices; acting as a point of contact for the owner and staff at both offices and performed HR and payroll duties. In the course of my duties, I had to be knowledgeable in labour and employment laws in Ontario and also was responsible for any Small Claims Court matters.Previously, I was put in charge of the Port Perry office to restructure and re-organize the business. I successfully helped the owner maximize efficiency and profitability of the office.
