About Stephen Fauer, Cfa

I am a Founding Member, Chief Investment Officer, and Lead Portfolio Manager for Pinnacle Capital Management, LLC based in Fayetteville, NY. I am responsible for investing discretionary portfolios for individuals, businesses, and institutions in separately managed accounts (ranging from 100% equity to 100% fixed income) and two hedge funds.My philosophy regarding risk and investing is straightforward. When markets offer sufficient returns given underlying risk, it is appropriate to take on that risk to generate investment returns. When markets do not offer sufficient returns given underlying risk, it is appropriate to forego returns and, instead, strive to protect capital. This philosophy applies whether considering asset classes, sectors, or individual securities.Implementing this philosophy is a process of 1) understanding the fundamental factors driving individual organizations' positioning, and prospects; 2) evaluating factors driving growth and margins within the entity, industry, and economy; and 3) determining appropriate discount factors for valuation purposes. All of this must be applied in a portfolio context, ensuring both sufficient diversification and appropriate emphasis on those security positions which will best enable the client to achieve desired objectives.
