My role was the principal architect across all global operations functions of Smoothwall Group (pre-sales, architecture, implementation, support, internal systems and managed services). This involved being the technical design authority for all customer implementations; managing standards used by over 40 Smoothwall architects, engineers and managers globally. Another key aspect of the role was to "bridge the gap" between operations functions and product management/development, representing operations staff and customers as a stakeholder in development of new products.I also retained individual project architecture for key strategic accounts and development of new markets/verticals. On permanent placement as Network Manager at St Bede's Catholic Grammar School with occasional work at other customer sites.At St Bede's I was responsible for a 1400 user / 600 node network and a team of two desktop engineers. Implementing, supporting and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory domains, MIS (SIMS), VLE (Moodle), network infrastructure and a myriad of third party schools applications.Leading the technical strategy of the school provided the opportunity to introduce technology into areas where at the time it was either not present or under-utilised, facilitating overall school improvement, demonstrable through Ofsted reports and increase in overall pupil attainment.
