I am a Legal and Group Corporate Governance Advisor to the Executive Committee of the Board at Banco Angolano de Investimentos (BAI). My role encompasses collaborating with the Legal and Litigation Division and the Office of the Company Secretary to ensure that the Board and its Committees operate efficiently and adhere to the highest standards of corporate governance. This involves addressing statutory responsibilities, implementing corporate governance practices, strengthening organisational governance, supporting the Board, managing board and committee processes, fostering board development, engaging with stakeholders, and overseeing disclosure and reporting. With a robust background as a versatile corporate and finance lawyer, I am qualified to practise in Angola and provide legal and business advice to both local and international corporate entities and financial institutions. My experience spans over 18 years, during which I have worked at prestigious law firms in London, including those within the silver/magic circle. In the legal sector, I have handled a broad range of matters, including commercial litigation, dispute resolution, competition and antitrust issues, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, legal and financial due diligence, and structured finance. Furthermore, I have worked in the investment banking sector at renowned bulge bracket investment banks, managing and structuring exchange-traded derivatives (ETD) and Over the Counter (OTC) derivatives transactions with global implications across London, New York City, and Continental Europe. As a Senior ISDA Negotiator, I have successfully negotiated various agreements such as credit support annexes (CSAs), valuation of derivatives positions, cross-default and termination event clauses, credit support deeds, collateral transfer agreements, GMRAs, and ISDAs. My expertise enables me to provide comprehensive advice on complex transactions, considering liquidity, credit, and leveraged risks. Additionally, I serve as a visiting professor at ISPTEC, where I lecture on Risk Management and Corporate Governance.
