"On a general level, art is a way for people to look at themselves and their reality. It is about trying to transform everything around us; a means to make people love, hate, laugh, cry, and reflect. Art can even make people experience feelings they had never thought possible. On a personal level, art is the means through which I express my acceptance of, or rebellion against, the world in which I live. My paintings, my art, is truly an extension of my own being."Favier Felipe Mesa was born on March 23rd, 1977 in Havana City, Cuba.He began his studies at the elementary Art school of Havana located in Plaza de la Revolución in 1990.In 1996 he graduated from the San Alejandro National School of Fine Arts (La Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes, San Alejandro)in the specialty of engraving.The National School of Fine Arts is the oldest and most prestigious fine arts school in Cuba.Since his graduation, Favier has worked as a full-time painter in his studio in Havana City. The majority of his works are oil on canvas.Favier's works are in private collections all around the world.Favier has recently caught the attention of Toronto, Canada art collectors. His works from a private collection have been exhibited in a prominent gallery in Toronto in 2012.
