Fawn Walker Montgomery (she/her) is a consultant and the CEO/Co-Founder of Take Action Advocacy Group, Mother, wife, and longtime community activist/organizer (20+ years). Born and raised in McKeesport, PA (Greater Pittsburgh) an area affectionally known as the “Mon Valley”. Fawn attended Johnson C. Smith University, a historically black college & university (HBCU), where she obtained a BA in Political Science. She went onto ger her master’s in criminal justice administration from Point Park University. Her movement origin story started in middle school (McKeesport School District) where she advocated to get a racially offensive book removed from the curriculum. This led to her deep involvement in organizing and movement work.She is a former two term McKeesport councilwoman and past candidate for State Representative in the 35th District. Fawn was the first Black person & woman to run for a State seat in the Mon Valley and win a Council seat in McKeesport without the endorsement of a major political party. From here she went onto start her passion project “Take Action Mon Valley (TAMV)/Take Action Advocacy Group”. TAMV advocates for Black liberation and social justice in small communities. She has received several awards for her community work such as various Black History Awards; 2020 VEEM Civic Engagement Champion; 2020 SiStars Leadership Award recipient from Black Women’s Roundtable; 2018 New Pittsburgh Courier Women of Excellence; McKeesport NAACP 2018 Community Service Award; Unsung Hero 2018 Black History Achievement Award, Community Empowerment Association 2018 Nation Building Award; Voice of Vision Outstanding Councilwoman; 2013 Mon River Fleet Women of Achievement Social Leader and Nominee Athena Young Professional Award. Fawn has a strong belief in community organizing and sees the power in Black liberation.
