Charting pathways that guide small and mid-sized businesses, organizations, and governments through developing projects and products that create a more inclusive, just, and transparent food and agricultural system. In my work I am gaining tremendous knowledge from those I work with in small-scale farming, food entrepreneurship, meat processing, and agricultural land and water conservation. I love being able to build on what I learn to help others get grant funding, evaluate their business opportunities, and develop successful enterprises to keep our community-based food systems viable. I also deeply value those I work with to support Tribal food sovereignty - an essential element of cultural viability that dovetails with land back efforts, land and resource co-management, and community wellbeing.

Navajo Nation - Window Rock, Az

Through the lens of grazing and land use, I explored the nuance of a Native Nation both struggling with and succeeding in making their way through sovereign governance despite the numerous limitations on their independence. Negotiating culture and bureaucracy became an exercise to benefit not only the animals and the land but the people who value both.
