Led the board in its general governance practices and activities including annual planning, strategy development, grant analysis, funding recommendations and endowment review. • Business Redevelopment. Restructured and led the company’s philanthropic priorities; redesigned foundation’s program funding strategy; oversaw the investment of $20 million plus in annual investments to nonprofits statewide.

The Conservancy is an organization founded in 2003, established for the purpose of providing public waterfront access and leading the transformation of the Detroit riverfront. Representing one of the most successful public-private partnerships in support of the revitalization and sustainability of the waterfront, it serves as an anchor and catalyst for economic revitalization to create thriving, walkable and connected communities within Detroit. • Land Acquisition. Oversaw the negotiation of waterfront land assemble through the securing of individual conservation easements from six riverfront property owners including the state of Michigan, and a ninety-year long-term lease from the City of Detroit for the development of the riverfront.• Construction. Oversaw the construction of 3.5 miles of public space development which included concessions, parks, fountain displays, gardens, bike trails, all of which connected by a riverwalk pathway that attracted approximately three million annual visitors.• Finance and Fundraising. Raised over $160 million to address the $100 million cost of construction and the establishment of a $60 million endowment to address the sustainability of the public space which generated over $1 billion of public and private investment .• Community Engagement. Met with over 400 community groups prior to the launch of construction, in connection with the development of the waterfront vision, which included design charrettes, surveys, continuous review and response to community feedback, development of programmatic initiatives, as well as ongoing community meetings to ensure the community’s voice in the development and activation of the waterfront.
