I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic Year 5 teacher in a Telford & Wrekin primary school. I gained Qualified Teacher Status and a PGCE accredited by Staffordshire University in July 2024. I am passionate about education and dedicated to instilling a love of learning in every child I teach. I recently graduated with First Class Honours in BA English Language at the University of Birmingham. In my final year of university, I conducted a contrastive study of Year 4 pupils' post-pandemic reading fluency levels and reading habits in two schools with varying numbers of children on Free School Meals. The findings provided a valuable insight into the current issues children are facing in the post-pandemic classroom, and how systematic synthetic phonics is indispensable to children's attainment. Alongside my studies, I worked as a Receptionist & General Assistant at a children's soft play centre; volunteered as a Literacy Champion for the National Literacy Trust; conducted a research study about the impact of trauma, neurodiversity and behaviour on children's reading for Super Personalised Books, and worked as an Academic Tutor for MyTutor and Telford College. I have worked alongside people from various backgrounds and I am excited to apply my interpersonal skills to the teaching profession. Recently, I won the Outstanding Achievement Awards in all of my A-Level subjects for two years. I also won a High Sheriff of Shropshire Outstanding Young Citizen Award for services to my local community.
