Hi I’m Richard Whitcher.I manage (and lead!) a team of great technical minds managing IT infrastructure – they are my most valuable asset.I got my introduction to IT as a technician in schools in 90's, then graduated to working in Higher Education. I moved from 1st line support through to Systems Administration, and eventually a database and corporate application specialist. Along the way I also did plenty of scripting, coding, and system development.With all that experience I now support the team, to reach the goals of the organisation, acting as the synergist and buffer between senior management and other groups to achieve success. Sometimes I win, sometimes I learn, but we are all in it together.I still get my hands dirty with the technical stuff and use scripting, databases and automation to keep things in control, consistent and measurable.However, my role is constantly evolving and moving in a leadership direction. I am just as adept in the processes around designing solutions, managing incidents, and continual service improvement. Managing the smallest of work packages, through to the spinning cogs of bigger projects.I support the K.I.S.S principle - Keep It Simple Stupid! - and the use of an agile approach to managing work, being flexible and building directionality. That way, my team end up all shooting arrows in the same direction.I also like planting idea seeds and watching them grow.
