We act as a multimedia rich marketing platform creating targeted exposure for local businesses and a large part of my role is sourcing the appropriate businesses and passing to my sales team for contracting on the site. I also source and give the final edit and approval to all of the content that is displayed on the site as well as writing my own articles, blogs, reviews and updates to all the social media channels. With true local knowledge and hands on experience with the local businesses my team have proved a valuable service to both families and executives travelling in Marbella.The journalistic skills that I developed in my early days in publishing have proven very useful in my current role-online activity is a very multi disciplinary media when successful and my intuition and ability to keep a keen eye on content has always been valuable in terms of commercial gain.

    Having run one of the My Destination franchises (My Destination Marbella) and achieved huge success with the Commercial aspects of the site I was offered the role of Head of Commercial for the entire global network. This promotion allowed me to combine my many years of sales and marketing experience in the offline and online market together with my love of communication and natural ability to educate, motivate and inspire.I developed a complete sales strategy for the My Destination network in line with a newly created revenue model, wrote a new streamed and interactive sales training course, produced all external marketing material, internal manuals and operations guides relating to sales and also handle all aspects of commercial reporting to Head office. The training aspect of the role involves both implementing a "virtual" course that is tailored to 4 tiers of experience/ability as well as one on one training consultations for the individual franchisees throughout the year. An element of my job that connected all the parts together is my ability to build and nuture relationships with the network of franchisees around the globe. I played a part in the product development of My Destination and brought real time experience, innovation and intuition to the table when important decisions were taking place as well as assisting the franchise sales team to grow the network and find new frachisees in destinations around the globe.During my time at MyDestination.com I was also been invited to lecture at several International locations as a part of Manchester Business School's MBA programmes including Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, and of course at the Manchester University campus too. Their programmes encourage the interaction of real time business practitioners and my involvement served to develop both my public speaking skills as well as my inspirational methods of educating and informing executives and highly qualified adults.

    Bespoke Media was born when the investors behind H! Society magazine decided to close the business as a part of the global closure of their company. I was the Co-Publisher of Bespoke Media and we established Society Living magazine, Beautiful Home magazine and then Confeti and Health Matters as leading titles in the Costa del Sol area. We were therefore able to offer clients great cross media advertising solutions which we went on to package together with public relations services and event organisation. My client base was International, National and local and despite a large economic downturn we maintained a healthy balance sheet. In my role as Advertising Director I was running a team of sales people as well as obtaining and maintaining my own clients. A large part of my role also involved attendance at important local events, representing the company and in support of our clients and the coordination of photographers and journalists to support said clients within the publications. I wrote advertorials and news releases for the magazine when appropriate and my engagement with the business community at ground level meant that I was a key source of editorial material and content for the magazines. I also introduced social media strategies and began creating the content within these channels before leaving to join My Destination.

    I managed and directed the Advertising sales team at H! Society Magazine in Marbella and then Mallorca and also launched their sister publication Beautiful Living España, a home and interiors magazine. We sold to local, National and International clients wishing to promote to the International community living and visiting Marbella. The role also involved a large amount of PR including attending many social events on behalf of the company in the local area. In addition to my commercial commitments and partly due to my more creative flair I also worked closely with the editorial department within the magazine group. I took part in the weekly editorial meetings, I liaised on a day to day basis with the editorial and features team, I covered society events and business launches with a number of professional photographers and I also wrote advertorials for clients and even occasionally wrote restaurant and salon reviews. I always believed that it was this close relationship with the editorial department that gave me the edge in sales. We achieved sales in excess of 100k€ per month under my management. The magazine became the local favourite both in terms of readership and choice of advertising during my employment and served as my introduction to the local business world in Marbella.

    Insight magazine was a publication in English created for expats living in the area East of Malaga (Malaga to Motril). I developed the advertising revenue to a record high in my first 3 months finally allowing the magazine to become perfect bound. From this stage it grew to be the most avidly read glossy in the area. We were a small team so my writing and also photographic skills were also fully utilised. I wrote all the restaurant reviews and any other advertorial type content for the publication and took all the food and venue photography. I also worked closely with the features editor assisting her in the sourcing of original and unique content, interviewing local business people and local political leaders and also took the photography for these features too. In my final year at Insight we launched Insight News. A bi-monthly newspaper filled with articles more suited to newspaper format and offering a cheaper advertising platform for certain smaller businesses. The business was a success when I was headhunted for my future role in Marbella and I believe that they also now have a great website continuing the move into the digital age of media.
