Established this pivotal employment retention program enabling and empowering disadvantaged women to move beyond being victims of their circumstances. They have regained their self-worth, secured steady employment, moved from homeless to home owner, returned to school to earn higher education degrees, earned promotions, and given back to their communities through self-initiated community action projects. Moreover, they have become strong role models for their children. Initially, presided over a Steering Committee of business women to develop the business plan and create a yearlong curriculum of monthly workshops designed to develop and enhance each client's skills, self-awareness, and confidence moving each toward long-term self-sufficiency. The first successful cohort of eight women graduated in 2012. The program served an increasing number of women in each successive year with 20 women graduating in 2015. In 2013, I launched an associate program to continue to provide education, self-improvement, and a network of support for graduates of the one year program with a 95% client retention rate. Ongoing, resourced and recruited seasoned professionals in a broad variety of fields to lead the 17 different workshops offered annually while overseeing program execution including fundraising to support program costs, planning and facilitating monthly workshops, data collection and reporting, communication with DFS management, and support and engagement of clients.
