About Muhammad Faza Abel Jonggara Marpaung
Muhammad Faza Abel Jonggara Marpaung is a final-year Aerospace Engineering undergraduate at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) with a BSc First Class (Hons.) in Applied Mechanical Engineering, which he obtained at Coventry University during a double-degree program with ITB in 2024. Faza is a highly dedicated student who has been passionate about the aerospace industry ever since he discovered the beauty of aviation as a child.Faza primarily specialises in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), aircraft design, and air transport engineering. During his tenure, he has led the Aerodynamics and Mechanical Design Department of the 2021 Fixed-Wing "Aksantara" UAV Team to reach the final stage of the prestigious nationwide Kontes Robot Terbang Indonesia. He also managed an engineering team to conduct conceptual and preliminary design studies of a sustainable energy powerplant inspection drone - which won the 2022 national-level Mechanical and Marine Engineering National Exposition by Universitas Indonesia. On the other hand, as an undergraduate student, Faza has conducted and published several CFD-related studies, which were presented at international conferences such as IEEE's International Conference on Aerospace Electronics and Remote Sensing Technology. His invariant dedication to the aerospace world provided him with awards such as the 2024 Course Tutor's Prize by Coventry University, the 2023 Ganesha Karya Award by ITB, and several more.In his spare time, Faza often times volunteers at Forum Dirgantara Muda (FDM) with the spirit of facilitating, accelerating, and aggregating collaborations between stakeholders, the industry, and educational institutions to manifest better global and local aerospace ecosystems. He and his team also possess ambitions to consolidate, connect, bridge, and propel intra- and inter-aerospace vocational institutions' output and to manifest an aerospace environment that is collectively, constructively, and contributively developed. By managing and conducting educational and outreach activities such as sharing session webinars, aerospace outreach events - one example being FDM's participation in the 2022 Indo Defence and Expo, Asia-Pacific's most extensive defence exhibition, and many more, he and the FDM team actively, collaboratively, and synergically aim to participate in efforts to develop and nurture competencies, capacities, and capabilities of the future aerospace workforce.
