I am a highly motivated researcher who seeks to advance scientific knowledge and health equity as a Public Health Scientist and Patient Advocate. After experiencing firsthand the difficulties associated with receiving quality health care, I decided to return to school to learn the skills necessary to become an effective patient advocate for two of my children diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease. Upon my return, I rediscovered my love for the sciences, particularly chemistry, and discovered new loves in the fields of microbiology and genetics. Since then I have successfully earned an Associates in Health Education, Bachelor's in Public Health Science, and a Master's in Biology. Although I still desire to be a patient advocate, my Public Health interest is in the science that drives the field. I look forward to continuing my career as a Public Health Scientist and bridging the gap between advocacy and research.
