FlashStart was founded in 2001. For 11 years, my team and I exclusively served as IT consultants. Everything changed in 2012. We had the intuition that the company was missing something: security software. Fighting viruses was complicated, there was no specific Italian tool that applied this defense. So, in February 2012, we brought out FlashStart Cloud, the first Italian Internet filtering platform. The turning point came in 2015 when we were contacted by a German company, Bintec, a router manufacturer. They were looking for a company to produce a filter to run in their equipment. They had to choose between us or Ibm. Suddenly, despite being a very small company that was not yet working abroad, we found ourselves competing against an industry monster like Ibm and certain German prejudice against Italian technology, but in the end Bintec chose us. This success catapulted us from a local company to a global leader, now operating in 156 countries with a network of more than 700 internally managed partners.
