As a Municipal Court Judge, I preside over various docket assignments for all misdemeanor offences occurring within the City of Mobile’s jurisdiction. I was first appointed by Mayor Sandy Stimpson as Special Judge in June of 2019. I was then appointed by The Mobile City Council to serve as Adjunct Judge in March of 2021. Most recently, I was appointed by The Mobile City Council to serve as Part-Time Judge in January of 2022.

The Historic Avenue Foundation is a local nonprofit organization committed to closing the opportunity and achievement gaps in The Avenue Community by focusing on holistic community revitalization. The “Avenue,” historically referred to as Davis Avenue, is located in downtown Mobile. It includes parts of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Campground, and Bottom communities. We are making investments in mixed-income housing, cradle-to-college education, and community health and wellness. Our approach is inspired by the Purpose Built Communities model, which has been promoted as a proven method to break the cycle of generational poverty, and is a replicable strategy by both the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Federal Reserve Bank, in addition to many others. We are committed to continuing these collaborative efforts under the guidance of our Community Advisory Council, which focuses solely on the mission of providing the initiative with the capacity needed to ensure the partner organizations are working together in a meaningful, focused, and coordinated way to more efficiently realize the target outcomes.

Teach For America works in partnership with schools and communities to expand educational opportunity for children facing the challenges of poverty. Teach For America believes that all children, despite their socioeconomic background, deserve an excellent education. Westlawn Middle School was a “turn-a-round” school in Huntsville, Alabama. At Westlawn, I taught 7th Grade Civics and Geography. I was also the Sponsor for Student Government Association and the Debate Team. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work as a Culture Specialist for Teach for America’s Mississippi Delta Training Institute. In the position of Culture Specialist, I effectively engaged, trained, and coached new Corps Members (teachers) in the areas of culture, community, and diversity. I also worked as a Recruitment Manager, recruiting Corp Members (teachers) from Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida.
