Learnedand enhanced skills in: R programming, managing large exposure data sets, runningOpenQuake models. Introduced to the realm of parametric risk-transfer products and howthey are priced and structured based off the modelling and risk data.

Volunteered with Brightside as a mentor for students in Year 8 and students who are preparing for their A-levels. My role as a mentor was to help provide these students with relevant information relating to study habits for exams and what to expect at university in terms of their social and academic lives. I communicated with the older group of students via online chatting forms to answer questions and provide advice whenever they need. I also meet with all the students to run in-person workshops. Through this opportunity I've strengthened my communication, mentoring, and leadership skills.

Assisted on a research project for identifying and monitoring dust storms in thesouthern region. Tasks included: analyse satellite images, cross-reference withweather, climate, and traffic data. Skills learned: using remote data sensing tools forstudying inaccessible areas (weekend research trips to remote locations), how to useArcMap to display dust storm data effectively, and Pix4D to create 2-D and 3-D mapsof study areas. Sent as a representative to three conferences around Iceland,targeting the tourism industry, school-aged children, and the general public andindustry leaders. Communication skills for tailoring information and presentations toengage with the target audience were practiced an improved from these conferences.
