Executive Assistant Paralegal
Current• Responsible for the coordination and/or administration of standardized work methods, protocols, policies, and procedures related to on-going Labour & Employment matters. • Ensuring all client needs and/or inquiries are seamlessly relayed to appropriate and correct Alberta Health Services staff in a timely and professional manner. • Participates in various department meetings and committees. • Accountable in identifying service delivery, business and operational issues and raising them with the Associate General Counsel, Labour & Employment. • Participates in orientation for new staff to the department.• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. • Participates in recruitment and hiring staff for the department on behalf of the Associate General Counsel• Managing on-going Labour & Employment files of AHS• Provides confidential, knowledgeable, professional, and precise information and guidance to Alberta Health Services staff in dealing with Labour & Employment matters.• Accepts service of originating documents.• Completes file opening protocols.• Responsible for document organization and production, including collection, photocopying, and indexing of documents, checking copies, setting up and maintaining files which are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matters and stripping files at the close of a file.• Gathers information and documents in response to undertakings arising from examinations for discovery.• Assists in preparation of memoranda to General Counsel and executive regarding Labour & Employment matters.• Assists counsel in preparation for hearings, including locating and contacting potential witnesses, gathering any additional documents required and advising legal counsel of developments.• Acts as liaison with various internal stakeholders as well as with external Union representatives and Arbitrators/Adjudicators.
