Administered and maintained a number of databases and applications with various DOS and Windows front ends such as Microsoft FoxPro and Microsoft Access. Provided hardware and software support to all network-connected users at the Hopkins corporate headquarters. Consulted with executive team and operational managers in identifying long range objectives and implementation plans for the company’s information systems. Designed and implemented systems to achieve the long range objectives, such as systems that maintain security yet allow universal accessibility to accounting and human resources systems, coordination of sales force, and integration of regional operations with systems located at corporate headquarters in Hopkins. Managed migration from multiple departmental networks into an integrated high-performance, high-availability NetWare-based network hosting resources available to the entire company at all sites and providing access to the Internet. Provided technical leadership for the selection of a new PBX and voice mail system that provided major enhancements in users’ communications capabilities including PC-Telephony integration. Implemented network management systems and procedures to reduce day-to-day management costs as well as facilitating monitoring and control of network assets (including cabling, hubs, printers, servers, and workstations) from a suite of centrally located management consoles based on HP OpenView for Windows, Compaq Insight Manager, and other applications. Responsible for supervising an assistant who performed first-line user support as well as routine hardware and software maintenance.

Responsibilities included end-user support of IBM PS/2s and software packages such as Lotus 1-2-3, Microsoft Word, Displaywrite, WordPerfect, and Paradox; Novell and IBM OS/2 Local Area Network installation and administration; database application development using Paradox; served as a PC technical advisor on teh E-Squared (Engineering Environment) steering committee that was responsible for the conversion of programming and testing resources from mainframes to PC-based LANs.
