Traffic Manager within FCC Norway for the Sotra Link CJV Project

Working for the department that makes policies and determines the route Gouda will follow in coming years in relation to traffic and mobility.

Traffic Manager in charge of coordinating all road-works withing the municipality of Gouda. Also responsible for the maintenance (via contract management) of traffic lights.

At Goudappel Coffeng i worked as an allround traffic consultant. Although my main responsibilities involved traffic simulation models i also worked on various bicycle, spatial planning and road studies.

After finishing my contract with Strukton I returned temporarily to my old job at van Rens.

At Strukton International I worked for the Riyadh Metro project. In this project Strukton (with Samsung and FCC) constructed 3 metro lines. Total price for the project is estimated at 8 billion euro’s. In this project I was the only traffic engineer for line 6. I functioned as central communication point between the designers (DJV) en construction (CJV) whom I had to coordinate with. In this task it was very important that the designed (traffic related) were well aware of the demands and wished of the constructors but also that the constructors were aware of the (im)possibilities in regard to traffic design. My previous knowledge of traffic simulation (VISUM/VISSIM) was very usefull. Besides this task i also developed a system / procedure in which our traffic team could be regulated and checked in line with all project demands. Think of permits, work orders, quality control, temporary traffic control drawing (based upon the MUTCD and AASHTO and in accordance to the local traffic police) and some financial support. For these tasks i had a draftsman and administrator (Filipinas) and an all-round assistant (Saudi). My task was therefor focussed on managing, coordinating and checking. Employed as a Traffic Advisor at van Rens Mobiliteit. Tasks vary from writing traffic management plans for both road and water based traffic to traffic engineer for major projects. The reconstruction of a major highway near Amsterdam was one of them. Guiding and assisting collegues with various traffic related matter in smaller sized project was also part of my jobProjects involved in:- N348 Zutphen-Eefde- Noordzeebrug, Groningen- reconstruction knp. Kunderberg, Heerlen- N280 Maintanance Maasbrug- Meppelerdiepsluis, Zwartsluis- SAA A10 (Schiphol - Amsterdam - Almere).

Project specialist for making micro and macro sized traffic simulation models. Also performing an analysis of these models in regards to questions from the employer and ofcourse maintanance of these models. Most models were made for studies related to city planning, environmental of traffic.Projects involved in;- Municipality Zeist- Municipality Harderwijk- Municipality Groningen

Various town/city planning projects and traffic research concerning redevelopment of the grand parade (Fan Park) for the World Cup 2010 and Blaauwbergroad. Research for and testing of intelligent transport systems and routing systems. During this internship we used Aimsun for testing and developing intelligent transport systems.

As a replacement for a conventional (and purely theoretical) school project me and some friends chose tostart our own project. This involved setting up a project to gather funds, execute project management and with the help of a locally known church father, build a health care centre in Ukwimi, Zamia, We also went to Zambia ourselves for 6 weeks to actually help build the centre.
