I currently work as Submarine Cable Engineer for Elettra Tlc, a subsidiary of Orange Telecom active in the design and deployment of submarine telecommunication systems. I acted in this position for over six years. My duties include project management, deployment of bespoke fiber optic solutions from pre-project planning to commissioning and liaison with customers and their representatives. Most recently, I partnered with the FASTER consortium (a Google-led party of telecommunications companies) to deploy their namesake, multi-terabit cable system connecting USA to Japan and Taiwan. In general, I possess broad expertise in the whole telecommunications sector, ranging from optical fibre to satellite links, even though I like to delve also into pioneering research such as quantum networks and quantum optics. Prior, I worked in the IT departments of top companies, such as Ocuco Ltd. the second world's biggest software company in the optical sector. My working career started in 2006 right after graduation in Information Technology Engineering. I graduated at University of Catania discussing a dissertation on the absorption of electromagnetic waves by superconductors, later published as a paper on Journal of Modern Optics in December 2010.I regularly travel to all corners of the world to do my job. As of today, I visited nineteen countries totalling several months of travel time.
