My main duties were:- Provide legal support in the design and implementation of the governance of the Chilean National Plan for Ecological Restoration, drafting legal instruments for presidential approval. For example, the decree creating Chile’s National Committee for Ecological Restoration.- Manage participatory processes for the elaboration of environmental legal instruments, generating collaborative work settings with different stakeholders, such as public agencies, autonomous State bodies, and Non-Governmental Organizations.- Prepare workshops and presentations for Chile’s government officials on environmental governance development, to build capacity at national level.- Conducting research and writing reports on various legal issues related to ecological restoration and Chile's environmental regulatory framework, and preparing briefing reports for the Development Law Service of FAO.

My work consisted mainly of:(i) Participating in and supporting the negotiation of comprehensive environment chapters in Free Trade Agreements;(ii) Developing studies and reports on environmental policies of Canada’s potential trade partners, in areas such as climate change and biodiversity.(iii) Preparing briefing notes, presentations, ministerial correspondence, and other documentation for senior management; and, (iv) Providing support in the implementation of environment chapters of Free Trade Agreements, liaising with other ministerial departments and different stakeholders.

My main responsibilities were:(i) Elaborate environmental bills, and support its legislative process. For example, the Climate Change Bill, the Bill that creates the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Service, and the Bill on Environmental Crimes;(ii) Develop environmental regulations, especially, Environmental Quality Standards, Emission Standards, and Decontamination Plans, for air and water;(iii) Provide legal support in the creation and management of protected areas, such as National Parks and Reserves, Nature Sanctuaries and Coastal Marine Areas; and the elaboration of wildlife conservation instruments, among other instruments for the protection of biodiversity;(iv) Provide legal assistance in the development of environmental policies and plans, such as the long-term climate strategy, and the national strategy on marine waste management;(v) Write reports for the Environmental Courts, Superior Courts of Justice, and the Comptroller General of the Republic;(vi) Evaluate the environmental impacts of projects submitted to the Environmental Impact Assessment System, and prepare reports to the Committee of Ministers and Executive Director of the Environmental Assessment Service, in claims regarding environmental permits; and,(vii) Design and develop Indigenous Consultation Processes.

I taught the undergraduate course "Environmental Law", and taught modules and classes in the Environmental Law Postgraduate Programme.The first is a compulsory fifth year course, and the main subjects addressed were: (i) the principles of environmental law; (ii) constitutional protection of the environment; (iii) the environmental institutionality, including the Superintendence of the Environment and Environmental Courts; (iv) jurisprudence and relevant cases in environmental litigation; and (v) environmental management instruments in Chile, with special emphasis on the Environmental Impact Assessment System.Regarding the second, the modules of the Postgraduate Programme referred to the Environmental Impact Assessment System and the right to consultation of indigenous peoples.Additionally, I was a thesis guide professor of law students. My last year I supported two thesis. One on the implementation of the Chilean framework law on waste management; and the other on the conciliation as an alternative mechanism for conflict resolution in the Environmental Courts. Both were qualified with maximum distinction by a panel of impartial lawyers and academics.

My main responsibilities were:(i) direct the assessment –nationwide– of the impact that projects submitted to the Environmental Impact Assessment System may have on the indigenous peoples, and evaluating the ideal measures in order to mitigate, repair and/or compensate said impact;(ii) oversee the execution of a USD250,000/year fund for the environmental improvement of indigenous territories;(iii) assist the Superintendence of Environment in the preparation and implementation of the nationwide programme for environmental inspections (CONADI is member of the National Network of Environmental Inspection);(iv) work with the Ministry of Environment in the elaboration of environmental regulations (Decontamination Plans, Environmental Quality Standards, among others); and,(v) provide legal and technical support to public agencies on indigenous consultation processes.

My main duties were:(i) provide legal assistance in the environmental impact assessment of projects and activities submitted to the Environmental Impact Assessment System;(ii) process and obtain permits for the execution of said projects (environmental, mixed and sectorial permits);(iii) provide legal support for compliance with environmental regulations, including environmental oversight and sanction procedures;(iv) execute environmental legal audits in the context of mergers or acquisitions of companies, businesses and projects; and,(v) prepare claims and reports for the Environmental Courts and Superior Courts of Justice.
