I have been involved in the CELTIC EU project AI-NET-ANIARA (https://www.celticnext.eu/project-ai-net-aniara/). My work mainly focused on the definition of intelligent strategies for the allocation of network and cloud resources in 5G distributed edge infrastructures.

Main research topics: slice resource provisioning techniques for reliable communications and creation of network slices for 5G networks. Optimization algorithms based on integer linear programming have been developed to solve dedicated and shared path protection problems, in the presence of single failure. The goal of this study is to minimize the deployment cost while supporting the functional splitting options defined by 3GPP and multi-access edge computing. In addition, network slice template, generic slice template, network service descriptor, and slice creation/instantiation process have been investigated. Cloud service slices based on open source tools such as Openstack and Open Source Mano have been instantiated in the framework of the 5G networks deployment project led by the Italian operator Wind3.

Support to Master Students in theoretical notions and practical exercises.Main topics: queueing theory, Markov chains, TCP.

Assistance to prospective and enrolled students with regard to administrative aspects and learning activities of the course (e.g., enrolment, study plan).Support to the Degree Program Director and International Students Advisor in promotional activities.

Research topic: cost-optimal mobile network design.Main activities: development of mathematical models and implementation of a tool for joint deployment of radio and transport resources in dense urban scenarios.

Research topic: Fronthaul/Backhaul for 4G/5G networks.Main activity: development of algorithms for minimum cost mobile network deployment of in-building solutions based on C-RAN.

Technical assistance in the electrical part of engine test benches.
