After two years as a software developer, I was asked to take a more senior role within the team and tasked with leading various projects underpinning a new venture to start a hedge fund. Joining Sequoia Capital as a Software Developer was my first deep dive into the world of finance and trading. Joining a small but very talented team of developers, my responsibilities included collaborating in the design and implementation of various back and front office systems and tools.Among other smaller projects, I spearheaded the design and development of a major platform for real-time risk analysis, providing high throughput on commodity hardware. Built on a plugin-based model, the system could automatically recover failing components as well as remain operational through-out such an event, any risk metrics not dependent on the failing components remained online.
