I'm responsible for corporate strategy and M&A for our Business Services and Government units, and successfully led acquisitions including ThreatMetrix, Emailage, ID Analytics, BehavioSec, TruNarrative and our investment in Quod.

Created a sustainable business model on “edutainment”: programming that combines education and entertainment. Managed the design and implementation of a nationally broadcast TV show that includes a cartoon story and a talent show with more than 30,000 participating children. Hosted a cross-cultural educational English-language radio program on China National Radio, one function of which was to promote a series of textbooks that I wrote. (To date this series has sold over 200,000 copies.) Organized a 7-city promotional campaign for these materials including seminars, conferences, and marketing activities; created and directed the Textbook Development Department, which published more than 100 books from 2005 to 2008.

Designed and conducted a series of interviews with industry experts. Performed extensive data analysis. Produced detailed, insightful reports on topics ranging from significant players in the trade show/exhibition market and their business strategies to M&A possibilities to government policies and the legal environment in China. Helped customers tailor expansion strategies in major overseas markets.

Directed market surveys and redesigned programs targeted at middle- and high-school students; recruited and trained a team of 8 teachers; founded the One Hundred New Libraries in Western China Project to provide educational materials to students in China’s impoverished west

Authored, designed, and marketed 5 books on English writing, vocabulary, reading and grammar; co-founded and marketed an English-teaching brand that included textbooks, satellite/distance educational programs, and traditional training courses.
