Trial attorney that represents individuals charged with any crime at all stages of criminal proceedings, including, but not limited to, post-arrest/pre-file, preliminary hearing, trial, and post-conviction.

Represented indigent criminal defendants charged with felonies and misdemeanors including, but not limited to, murder, attempt murder, assault/battery, criminal threats, all types of thefts, burglary, child/elder abuse, DUI, weapon offenses, fraud, and some sex and gang crimes. Negotiated the case, prepare and argue motions, and conduct preliminary hearings and jury trials. The individuals I represent are facing sentences ranging from probation to life in prison.

Conduct misdemeanor jury trials and assist other attorneys in complex felony trials. Counsel and arraign clients daily at misdemeanor arraignment. Counsel clients at probation violation hearings and argue and negotiate on their behalf. Negotiate at trial readiness conferences. Draft and argue motions.

I have interned at the Primary Public Defender's Office in Downtown, El Cajon, the Central Misdemeanor Unit, and the Juvenile Delinquency branch in Kearny Mesa. I have also interned at the Multiple Conflict Office located downtown and the Alternate Public Defender's Office.Throughout my internships I conducted a jury trial, bench trial, advocated in countless detention and probation revocation hearings, and drafted and argued numerous motions including 1538, speedy trial, 654, and McNeely. Further, I wrote memos and did extensive research concerning various criminal law issues. I also did field work including client interviews (both in and out of custody), site visits, police lineups, and witness interviews.

Followed up with clients by answering procedural and document-related questions, processed bankruptcy petitions, and was primary support to the Bankruptcy staff.

Provided legal information and counseling regarding tenant-landlord relations. Included: habitability concerns, lease and rental agreements, payment disputes, discrimination, maintenance, security deposits, evictions, landlord and tenant responsibilities, and mobile home law. Met with tenants and landlords to discuss possible legal options.
