Directed day-to-day activities and operations for $4M grant budget. Advanced initiatives by creating strategic plans, tracking, and continuously improving processes; conducting research, recommending actions, and providing advice to the Director on complex issues. Served as a liaison and resource with other University units and external agencies. Provided HR leadership from hiring and onboarding to conflict management as first-line staff. Ensured adherence to state and federal laws. Engaged in capacity planning and resource allocation. Provided leadership and mentorship to enhance connections among internal and external stakeholders. Acted as and represented PI in numerous situations, making large and small decisions as needed. HIGHLIGHTS• Managed $24M (over six years) grant funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies. Oversaw $4M per year budget; served in senior leadership role and made decisions for Principal Investigator when needed. o Managed international sub-awards, international consultants, and purchased service agreements, including data agreements. Served as lead to ensure compliance to key research principles, adherence to scopes of work and budget; observance of terms of data agreements and other IP concerns.o Integrated knowledge of social science research principles with understanding of technical and legal requirements of grants administration. Applied understanding of research concepts and understanding of funder’s grant agreement requirements, relevant state and federal laws, and UIC requirements. o Led collaboration with multiple units on campus in pursuit of shared goals to support implementation and operation of this unique grant. o Built and maintained relationships with Bloomberg Philanthropies, all sub-awardees, vendors, and consultants. Balanced needs of grant and unit's autonomy within the larger University structure.
