Privileged to be entrusted with the opportunity to caretake a senior’s portfolio while she was away on her maternity leave, this internship has provided me with a clearer insight into the roles and responsibilities of a tax professional. Upon completion, I am glad that my performance was well-recognised by my colleagues and superiors, and ultimately received a priority offer for a job placement upon graduation.Throughout the internship stint, I was tasked with assisting different firms and individuals with different forms of taxation work per clients' requests. Thus, requiring me to apply my project management skills to determine the importance of each case and to prioritise them accordingly.The different forms of taxation work I assisted with includes, but not limited to: 1. Preparation of corporate tax computations and returns;2. Preparation of individual tax computations and returns;3. Drafting of Comptroller of Income Tax Queries (CITQ) responses; and4. Preparation and submission of Withholding Tax (WHT) return.

Extremely humbled by the opportunity to work in PwC Singapore as an Audit and Assurance intern during Polytechnic, it has provided me with a taste of life as an external auditor. Despite the long working hours known to many, the job was extremely enriching due to the fact that it exposed me to many different clients from various sectors thus deepening my understanding of the different processes carried out within each sector and firm.Throughout the internship stint, I was assigned to multiple engagements for different clients from various industries/sectors. This allowed me to hone and strengthen my interpersonal as well as client relations skills from the frequent interactions with different personnel including expatriates from the client's team. Depending on the engagement, I was required to perform different forms of audit work which includes, but not limited to:1. Executing vouching and tracing of client's financial statements;2. Performing audit test procedures to ensure that there are no material misstatements within clients' financial statements; and3. Entrusted with carrying out the whole audit procedures in relation to clients' dormant companies.
