Student Affairs Philanthropy works with private donors who make transformational gifts to enable Berkeley students to reach their potential. As a team member, I lead external relations efforts for undergraduate scholarship programs and am responsible for the execution of 20 annual events and circulation of a biannual newsletter to 25K+ alumni and parents. I enjoy working with scholarship donors and scholarship recipients to create opportunities for them meet and to inspire giving.

In this role, I contributed to a team with a mission to enhance and support the student experience for all Cal students with a special interest in underrepresented groups through philanthropic activities. I planned special events and programs to strengthen the Cal community and connect students, donors and alumni. •Expanded the Division’s participation in Big Give – Berkeley’s one-day fundraiser – netting a 63% increase in new dollars of $287,761 from 629 donors. Worked with scholarship students to develop Big Give marketing plan. •Collaborated with the Los Angeles team to create a signature regional scholarship reception. Developed event program featuring university executives and undergraduate student scholars as keynote speakers. This platform allowed us to successfully reengage local inactive alumni and secure a multi-year event host.

As a member of the International Relations team, I developed strategies and logistics to reach the growing international community of UC Berkeley alumni, parents and friends in 35 countries. I worked with alumni through Berkeley clubs to offer alumni, parents, and friends opportunities to engage with the local Cal community through a wide range of activities and programs. •Organized international trips for the Chancellor and other key campus administrators to engage Berkeley international community, meet with top donors.•Advised Assistant Vice Chancellor on new prospects and engagement strategies. Produced and analyzed complex lists of data related to international activities and donors. •Led creation and execution of comprehensive alumni communications and engagement plan resulting in a 25% increase of engagement and grew individual participation by 26%.

As a member of the marketing team, I served as a storyteller for a great community college district in the heart of Central California. I developed and ran comprehensive public information and advertising campaigns including television, radio and newspaper ads, video productions and award winning newsletters. •Produced a number of major special events with a small committee during my tenure including hosting former First Lady Laura Bush, Sarah Palin, Cornel West and musical groups. •Responsible for pre-publicity for those events and was responsible for working with members of the media covering the event.•Created and implemented award winning visual identity standards to outline graphic, layout and content style guidelines for district employees.

As an intern, I worked on a number of projects to create compelling content. I specifically worked with the Junior League of San Jose to promote its annual rummage sale also ,nown as “The Greatest Garage Sale on Earth.” The JLSJ rummage sale is a huge fundraising and community event with all proceeds going back to the community through JLSJ community programs. • Drafted PSAs, calendar listings and press releases.• Pitched the media through email and initial and follow-up calls.• Researched new business leads using Internet, newspapers, databases, etc.

Drafted and practiced production of daily promotional news topicals that hook potential viewers into watching nightly newscasts.Performed production assistant duties on scheduled film shoots.Attended daily news meetings and pitched news stories.
