Since April 2012 I work occasional weekends on the Andrew Marr Show. I produce the papers section of the programme as well as working alongside Andrew to deal with any pre-show preparation.My duties include:• Going through the programme scripts with Andrew, making any last minute changes as well as updating any news lines• Picking out the most interesting/important stories from the Sunday papers• Discussing with the guests which stories they are happy to talk about, and assigning a number of stories to each commentator• Once the programme is on air, sitting alongside the production team and ensuring Andrew is given the correct direction about which story to cover next

My duties include field producing different events on location, recent tasks: • Assisting the Regions Editor at the three main political party conferences in 2013. This included working on location at protests, ensuring there was sufficient crewing for any regional news requests, as well as conducting interviews as requests came in• Putting in bids for MPs to speak on the BBC News Channel• Securing and carrying out interviews with high profile MPs for BBC News• Producing a number of live broadcasts for BBC News Channel including on location in Downing Street and Buckingham Palace• Planning for future news events, and working with other broadcasters to ensure all political news events have the sufficient coverage• Co-ordinating and ensuring the facilities are in place for various BBC News lives, including for regional news programmes• Producing TV1 packages for network news. This includes liaising closely with the correspondent, ensuring all necessary graphics are created, securing case studies and taking a lead in the edit suite

I spent four weeks gaining experience in the network radio newsroom. I wrote on the hour news bulletins which were broadcast on stations including Radio 2, 3 and 4. I was required to adapt my writing style to suit each particular station. This role also required producing and mixing packages for the main Radio 4 news bulletins, which involved selecting the best clips from interviews across all BBC output.

In January 2011 I was invited to apply for a training programme for new presenters for Channel 4. I was selected as one of the final 12 to spend a week at the National Film and Television School, being coached in presenting including fronting my own show with live studio guests. I was one of three successful people taken through to the next stage.

My duties included:• Generating and researching potential story ideas• Identifying and booking guests to come into the studio• Writing briefs and auto cues for the presenters• Organising live outside broadcasts as well as producing and editing VTs with reporters• Choosing and editing suitable clips using various software to introduce celebrity guests on the programmeItems I worked on included:• Organising for a record breaking steam powered car to come into Television Centre for a live broadcast• Producing press junket interviews with Oscar winning actresses Hilary Swank and Penelope Cruz• Assistant producer on location at the Wimbledon Championships 2009• Bringing a mother into the studio who had lost her daughter to a so called ‘legal high’ and was later that day meeting with the Home Secretary as part of her campaign to have the drug banned in the UK
