The Athletes Foot is the largest retailer of athletic footwear in Australia and offers consumers a unique fitting service through highly trained staff. Through my position I have cemented the ability to engage with a diverse range of customers, providing them with exceptional customer service in a range of performance, recreational and leisure-based footwear and related products. Other skills I have developed include the ability to focus on multiple tasks at a time through multi-serving during store peak times; as well as adapting quickly to technological advancements over time, whether it be through Point of Sale system updates (changing from MYOB to Erply) or through advances in our unique fitting system ( Fitprint to Fitzi to MyFit).

Project Titled: Implementing the Healthy Choices Policy Guidelines for Hospitals and Health Services at Stawell Regional Health The project involved collaborating with key stakeholders, Constructing, administrating and analysing a staff survey, Auditing and analysing the current food environment and writing a 5,000 word research reportThis placement also including co-developing and facilitating a group nutrition education session and facilitating the nutritional component of an indigenous outreach program.

First rotation: Broadmeadows Health Service - Managed patients on sub-acute medical, rehabilitation, geriatric evaluation and management wards - Conducted nutritional assessments, diagnosis and management with a range of conditions including: malnutrition, diabetes and re-feeding syndrome- Conducted outpatients clinic consults including: weight management, gestational diabetes and wound care- Provided patient education, including: High energy high protein diets, weight management, type two diabetes, and gestational diabetes - Conducted discharge planning including patient handovers and follow up Second rotation: The Northern Hospital Epping- Managed patients on acute medical, surgical, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, renal and oncology wards. Including managing those requiring oral nutrition support- Provided patient education, including: Carbohydrate awareness, quality, quantity and timing, Type 1 diabetes, heart failure, renal disease management and chronic liver failure -Conducted outpatients clinic consults and group education sessions, including: weight management, gestational diabetes and heart failure.- Advocated for nutrition to the multidisciplinary team - Demonstrated cultural competency through utilising translators and appropriate resources when managing patients from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Project Titled: Review of allergen management at a large metropolitan oncology hospital The project involved reviewing the current allergen management practices of the hospital, assessing current best practice for allergen management in other major metropolitan hospitals, constructing and conducting interviews with key staff members to gain an insight into the perspectives about current food allergen management practices and co-writing a written report and presentation based on the project.

Project: Kindergarten Lunchbox Audit The project involved independently auditing, entering and analysing kindergarten lunchboxes across rural Victoria and comparing the findings with the Australian Dietary Guidelines.

Project: Assessing the Food Supply The project involved working collaboratively to conduct field research assessing the food supply within food stores and restaurants throughout the Yarriambiack Shire. As well as undertaking data entry, data analysis and writing a report based on this research.

Through my role as store manager for 5 + years at The Athletes Foot Horsham I gained and developed many skills. These include the ability to supervise, motivate and mentor up to 8 staff on daily operations as well as training staff in an extensive range of modules, including induction and ongoing training operations; Collaborating with the store owner to create weekly rosters, monthly targets and Key Performance Indicators for individuals and the team as well as general management of the daily operations of the store.
