The Tasmanian Biosecurity Advisory Committee is an independent advisory body established to provide advice to the Minister for Primary Industries and Water, and the Tasmanian Government, on biosecurity in Tasmania. It plays a role in guiding Government strategies and policy in respect of biosecurity.In particular, the Biosecurity Advisory Committee provides advice to the Minister and Government on the following issues:- the requirements of comprehensive and effective biosecurity system for Tasmania, and necessary linkages to other biosecurity systems (national and international)- opportunities to improve industry and community awareness of biosecurity- opportunities to improve collaboration in achieving improved biosecurity outcomes including preparedness for biosecurity emergencies; and- any other biosecurity related matter referred to the Committee by the Minister or the Secretary.

The Tasmanian Red Meat Industry Steering Committee was convened in November 2018, and tasked with consulting producers, processors and the broader red meat supply chain to deliver a long-term strategy for a sustainable Tasmanian livestock industry. The Committee makes recommendations to the Tasmanian Government on spending under its red meat budget commitment.

My responsibilities included:- ensuring the Department was fully informed of government priorities and concerns- ensuring timely and accurate advice was provided to the Minister - quality assuring ministerial correspondence, briefings and Cabinet papers- building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders, including ACT and Commonwealth government agencies, ACT and federal ministers’ offices, unions, interest groups and constituents- identifying key policy issues for resolution - assisting in the drafting of legislation and legislative instruments.

My responsibilities included:- drafting legislation and legislative instruments to implement the Youth Attainment and Transitions National Partnership Agreement- administering the development of departmental policy and procedures- conducting training in the development and review of departmental policy- monitoring school board election processes and conduct training for school board members- supervising staff, support professional development and job satisfaction- providing written and oral advice to colleagues, teachers, principals and members of the public on departmental policy, governance frameworks and legislation.

As a mediation and dispute resolution officer for the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, my responsibilities included:- assisting in the management of corporation disputes, including by travelling to remote communities to provide face-to-face support- processing oral and written complaints to the Registrar- providing legal advice - researching legislation and case law and assist the Registrar’s General Counsel- facilitating corporation meetings and elections- conducting training in good corporate governance.
